Kayak trip to Blue Heart Springs

WOW, we got out of Dodge. No, the city, not the car!

Blue Heart Spring is near Thousand Springs. We went there now because the depth of the spring is dependent on the river level, which is now quite high so the spring is 12' deep. The pictures make it look like about 5'.

We borrowed a sit-on-top kayak and paddled across the river from one of the many fish hatcheries in the area. The water in the spring is 58 degrees, year round, and the clarity is 100%. WOW.

The spring is mostly enclosed and about 400' long by 200' wide. As we paddled into the spring, big carp were zooming back and forth under the boat. They were Kinda Big! There are fish in the spring but they stay away.
